Charlie's Angels

Story

Last March as a lot of my friends already know, I had a little boy who was pretty special called Charlie Bean. Pretty special not because any of us got the chance to know him but because he touched an awful lot of hearts and inspired a lot of kindness from both friends and strangers.

When I had Charlie he had a number of complications and I knew he would be born asleep. At the hospital there was another lady who was also giving birth to a full term baby who had passed away prior to the birth. There was only one cuddle cot at Lismore base which meant that the other lady gave birth first and then Charlie got some freezer bags, ice blocks and an esky (freezer box in UK) because they were kind enough to enable me to take him home.

I later found out that in Australia and probably the same statistics around the world mean that 8 women experience some form of a stillbirth every single day. A few amazing girls from Summit Gym Tamara, Lisa, Donna and Josie decided to help me do a fundraiser to try to help raise $6500 to buy an extra cuddle cot for Lismore Base or the nearest hospital that needs one because although it won’t take away the distress of losing their child but it won’t add anymore upset to their grief.

I am writing this today which ironically is actually his real due date (as he was born at 20 weeks) and it would be nice to think it symbolises a step into putting some goodness back into the local community. The cuddlecot would also be dedicated in his name.

As this happens 8 times a day there is every chance you know of someone this has happened to. It could be your mum, your sister, your friend or a colleague. If you would like to help us put some kindness back please think about sponsoring us for our fundraising sunrise climb of Mount Maroon on Saturday 23rd November or please buy a raffle ticket as we have had 10 amazing local businesses sponsor us with some great prizes @ 5 for $10 or $3 each. Our team name is https://cuddlecot.gofundraise.com.au/page/CharliesAngels0

We would love to be able to raise the full amount to purchase a cuddle cot so if you can help us get there even with 1 pound or $1 dollar it would be appreciated more than you can ever know. X Many families experience the loss of their baby in Australia each year. It is an incredibly heartbreaking and traumatic time for parents - a time when they require loving support and care.

We are fundraising for a cuddle cot to be donated to an Australian hospital, to support bereaved families in those crucial days after the loss of their baby.  A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. It enables families to keep their baby close and create beautiful memories, spending as much time as they wish with their baby, before saying goodbye. This reduces the worry or distress of separation to keep handing their baby back to hospital staff to be cooled in a traditional cooling room away from them.

We would love you to help me reach our goal, supporting this cause by making a donation of any amount, and please feel free to leave a message of support.
