Stephanie & Simon Lamanda
Story
On 15 September 2022, our beautiful daughter Alessia Lamanda was born sleeping at 15:15pm. She came into this world at just over 31 weeks gestation.
She came into this world silently but so beautiful and perfect. Our hearts are forever broken that she had to leave us, and her life was tragically cut short.
Alessia was born at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, which had a cuddle cot we could use, that was donated to them. So we were lucky enough that we got to spend quality time with our daughter in the days following her birth, as she was able to stay in her cuddle cot to keep her cool while we had time with our daughter, creating memories to last a lifetime, we got to hold her and admire her beauty and give her kisses and cuddles.
Many families experience the loss of their baby in Australia each year. Unfortunately not all hospitals in Australia have cuddle cots and this means that while these families are already experiencing the most traumatic time of their lives, they are unfortunately not able to spend much time with their babies due to not having a cuddle cot.
As we approach Alessia’s First heavenly birthday, I have decided to fundraise for a cuddle cot to be donated to an Australian hospital, funeral home or hospice to support bereaved families in those crucial days after the loss of their baby. A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. It enables families to keep their baby close and create beautiful memories, spending as much time as they wish with their baby, before saying goodbye.
I would love you to help me reach my goal of $6500, supporting this cause by making a donation of any amount, in honour of Alessia. Please feel free to leave a message of support.
