In loving memory of Stella Wild

On 22 March 2026, our world completely shattered. We were so close to the end of a calm and uneventful labour when things suddenly took a turn, and we welcomed our perfect baby girl, Stella, earthside via emergency caesarean. Stella fought a short but incredibly tough battle, waiting to meet her mama, and passed peacefully in our arms shortly after we were reunited as a family.

Stella was to be our rainbow baby, so deeply loved and longed for after the loss of her four older siblings. The weight of that loss is impossible to put into words. No words can heal our broken hearts or undo the trauma of the last few weeks, no warmth can fill our empty arms, and no explanation will ever justify losing our beautiful baby girl.

Thanks to a special cooling system called a Cuddle Cot, we were given the most precious gift - time. Time to hold Stella, to study every detail of her tiny features, to take photos, to be her parents, and to make precious memories as we prepared to say goodbye. It meant we were spared the distress of being separated from her, and it gave us the space to make the impossible decisions no parent should ever have to face. We are forever grateful to the family who donated the Cuddle Cot in honour of their beautiful Eddie, allowing us this time with Stella.

In Stella’s memory, we are hoping to give that same gift to other families. We are raising $6,500 to donate a Cuddle Cot to an Australian hospital, hospice or funeral home, so that other parents facing this same unimaginable loss can have time with their baby, just as we did.
