Story
It has been 10 weeks since we lost our little girl, Poppy Rose Allen.
On Wednesday 27th of December 2023, at 11pm, we went to the hospital due to reduced movements. In the early hours on the 28th of December 2023, we heard the haunting words, “there is no heartbeat”. Poppy was 36 weeks and 6 days in utero. She was birthed, stillborn, at 5.37pm that night.
We were blessed to spend the following 5 days in hospital with Poppy. Spending those 5 days with her would not of been possible without a cuddle cot. A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. This reduced the worry and distress of separation to keep handing our baby girl back to staff. It enabled us to keep Poppy close, have those treasured cuddles and create beautiful memories, spending as much time as we wished with our girl, before saying goodbye to her and the lifetime we had dreamed for her. That time was crucial, truly heartbreaking, traumatic and precious all in the same moment.
In honour of our beautiful daughter Poppy Rose Allen, we are fundraising for a cuddle cot to be donated to an Australian hospital, funeral home or hospice, to support another bereaved family in those crucial days after the loss of their baby.
We would love you to help us keep Poppy’s memory alive by supporting this cause and giving other families like ours the same precious gift of time that we were able to have with our girl.
The unexplainable, tragic loss of our daughter reached and touched many hearts. We often receive messages from loved ones and strangers letting us know Poppy is still in their thoughts and they are the most warming words we can hear.
We will always say her name, we will always talk about our first born, Poppy Rose, and we hope you do too.
Anthony and I would like to say thank you to all who have reached out to us, prayed for us, loved us, continued to support us, and kept our family in your thoughts during this time.
