In Loving Memory of Luca Mailman

In August 2023, our son, Luca, was stillborn after a healthy pregnancy. He was deeply loved, longed for, and will always be part of our family.
In the hours that followed his birth, time became the most precious thing we had.
When a baby dies, everything stops.
And in those first hours, time is the only thing that matters.
Time to hold your baby.
Time to memorise their face.
Time to take photos, to kiss them, and to say goodbye in your own way — without being rushed.
A cuddle cot makes that possible. It is a cooling device that allows families who experience the devastating loss of a baby to spend precious, uninterrupted time with their child, creating memories they will carry forever. Sadly, not all hospitals have access to cuddle cots. Without one, families may have only a very short window with their baby before being forced to say goodbye.
We are raising funds through Bears of Hope to provide a cuddle cot in Luca’s name, so that other families are given what every parent deserves in those moments: time, dignity, and space.
Our goal is $6,500, which will allow another family to experience the gift of time — the chance to hold their baby, create memories, and say goodbye with love and care.
Luca’s life was heartbreakingly brief, but his light lives on in us every day. This is how we honour him: by turning love into something that brings comfort to others in their darkest moments.

Bears Of Hope Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support is an Australian not-for-profit organisation, providing leading support and exceptional care for families who experience the loss of their baby.
We provide exclusive and invaluable support programs that include a credible foundation of parent led and psychologist facilitated support groups, private online peer to peer support communities, phone, face to face, online and email counselling and annual community events that remember individual baby’s and recognize their parents love. Bears Of Hope comfort, acknowledge, inform, empower, and guide families during their time of loss and beyond.
As a registered non-profit organisation we are dedicated to the care of others and reinvesting our finances and resources to ensure the mental health needs and wellbeing of parents are being met and embraced for as long as as required.
