Story
As many of you know, in November 2017 we said good bye to our daughter Leah Rose at 20 weeks pregnant. This was and still is the hardest thing we have ever been through. We wish no other family would have to endure the pain that we have and still are but sadly 6 babies a day are still born in Australia. We are fundraising to help fund a cuddle cot for a hospital to provide this invaluable support for families who find themselves in this devastating situation.
When your baby is stillborn, you have very little time to make as many memories as possible and these memories are all you have to carry with you. You will not get to celebrate birthdays, first days of school, weddings or any other special milestones. So a cuddle cot can be very valuable to allow the family to spend as much time together as possible before leaving hospital without their child.
A Cuddle Cot is a cooling system that has been designed to fit within a small cot. This effective system allows for babies who have passed away to remain with their families so that they are not required to be cooled in a mortuary environment. Cuddle Cots enable family members to also travel to visit and meet the baby and siblings to meet one another. It’s about giving parents choices and reassuring them that they can spend as much time as they like with their baby, without the fear of the baby needing to be cooled in a traditional mortuary.
We have a hospital in mind that does not have a cuddle cot but unfortunately we cannot disclose this until our goal is reached and we would love to make this donation by Leah's first birthday/angelversary in November. Please support our efforts by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support. We really appreciate any help, big or small in our baby Leah's memory.
