Jacqui and Toby's 65km Walk of Honour
Story
As many of you know, Toby and I lost our little boy, Oliver, on the 8th July 2018. At just 21 weeks, he was stillborn. On that day when we saw his beautiful face for the first and last time, we promised him that his brief, yet powerful life, would not be in vain. For that reason we have decided to start this fundraising page to help other families like ours during the most difficult time in their life.
On Saturday 17th November, Toby and I will embark on a 65km walk in honour of our son. Our trek will begin at dawn from Wollongong Hospital, as we head north, camping overnight in the Royal National Park, finally ending our journey at Sutherland Hospital, where Oliver was born.
The 17th November is a very special date for us, as it would have been Oliver's due date. The day will be extremely difficult for Toby and I, so we have chosen to commemorate the day in the most honourable way we know how. We have set out to raise $6000 to provide a hospital in need with a cuddle cot.
A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. It enables families to keep their baby close and create beautiful memories, spending uninterrupted time with their precious child without the worry or distress of handing their baby back to hospital staff before they are ready.
Sadly, in Australia alone, 6 babies are stillborn every single day. This alarming figure means that there are not nearly enough cuddle cots to provide to each family during this devastating time in their lives. This is where we step in to help.
If we reach our target, we will have the honour of presenting our cuddle cot to a hospital in need. Not only that, the cot will have beautiful embroidery and a plaque displaying 'lovingly donated in memory of Oliver Topham'.

Bears Of Hope comfort, acknowledge, inform, empower, and guide families during their time of loss and beyond.
As a registered non-profit organisation we are dedicated to the care of others and reinvesting our finances and resources to ensure the mental health needs and wellbeing of parents are being met and embraced for as long as as required.
