Cuddle Cot Donated In Memory Of Morgan Peter Kirchen
Cuddle Cot Donated In Memory Of Morgan Peter Kirchen
Story
Many families experience the loss of their baby in Australia each year. It is an incredibly heartbreaking and traumatic time for parents.
On the 6th on November at exactly 22weeks pregnant I presented to the hospital with bleeding and abdominal pain. The doctor came in sat down and told me I was in pre term labour and there was nothing they could do as my waters were bulging and it was to risky to try labour prevention methods we would just have to sit and hope for the best. At this stage the neonatal doctors came through to see me I was told straight away if baby come before 23 weeks the hospital staff would not resuscitate my heart broke and the long wait began. On the 8th of November our little boy was born he was perfect his heartbeat was strong I held him in my arms as he slowing grew his wings ??
We were all heartbroken I had no idea what to do the thought of leaving him or leaving the hospital and making plans for his little body was unthinkable but once Morgan had passed the hospital staff brought in a cuddle cot so he could stay in the room with me he was dressed in his angle gown and we could get some photos taken and most of all I could say goodbye and go through the motions make the plan before trying to find the courage to leave and return home without my boy ..
A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. It enables families to keep their baby close spending as much time as they wish with their baby, before saying that final goodbye. This reduces the distress, worry and confronting reality that comes with handing your baby back to hospital staff to be cooled in a traditional cooling room away from them or only being able to see your baby in the mortuary.
We would love to give family that little bit of comfort during the most difficult time.
Please help us reach our goal, so we can donate a cuddle cot to a hospital in need by Morgan's first birthday. Show your support of this cause by making a donation of any amount every dollar counts, and please feel free to leave a message of support.
