Story
As many of you may know, we lost our baby Oliver Waisale Rockliff on the 6th July 2018. After Oliver was born we were able to spend two precious days with him creating the only memories we will ever have together as a family. These memories we will cherish forever and we were only able to do this thanks to a cuddle cot.
A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. It enables families, like us to keep their baby close to create lasting memories, spending as much time as they wish without the worry or distress to keep handing their baby back to hospital staff to be cooled in a traditional cooling room away from them.
Unfortunately, here in Australia, six babies are stillborn each day and almost 1 in 100 pregnancies at or beyond 20 weeks gestation ends with a death of a baby. These statistics have not dropped in over two decades. With these number's being so high, there are not enough cuddle cots to provide to each family. To think that a family may not have an opportunity to create memories with their baby in the short time they have them is heartbreaking.
We are fundraising to help purchase a cuddle cot for a hospital to provide this invaluable support for families who find themselves in this devastating situation. For the hospital to provide this support it costs $6,000 per cot.
